Government Higher Secondary School in Dudhni Launches Six Day National Service Scheme Camp for Student Volunteers

The Government Higher Secondary School located in the scenic village of Dudhni within the Dadra and Nagar Haveli district has officially commenced a transformative six day special camp under the National Service Scheme also known as NSS. The inaugural ceremony was held with great dignity and was presided over by the Sarpanch of Dudhni Gram Panchayat Sunilbhai Khanjodiya who performed the traditional ribbon cutting to mark the beginning of this intensive social service journey. The primary objective of this camp is to cultivate a deep sense of discipline and social responsibility among the youth by taking education beyond the four walls of a classroom and into the heart of the rural community. For the residents of Dudhni the camp represents a unique opportunity for collaborative village development driven by the energy of the younger generation.

A dedicated contingent of fifty student volunteers all currently studying in Grade 11 has registered for this residential camp demonstrating a commendable commitment to civic duty. These volunteers have pledged to dedicate their time and effort to various community based projects over the next six days. The curriculum of the camp is diverse covering essential areas such as village cleanliness drives through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan social awareness rallies on health and nutrition and initiatives focused on environmental conservation. Furthermore the students will engage in projects related to village infrastructure assessment and documentation of local cultural heritage. By participating in these activities the students are expected to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical social challenges.

During his keynote address at the inauguration Sarpanch Sunilbhai Khanjodiya inspired the students by highlighting the motto of NSS which is Not Me But You. He emphasized that schemes like the National Service Scheme are vital for developing a compassionate outlook toward the marginalized sections of society. He encouraged the student volunteers to view this camp not just as a school requirement but as a training ground for leadership. According to the Sarpanch the habits of service and selflessness formed during these six days will stay with the students throughout their professional and personal lives making them proactive contributors to the nation’s progress. He expressed his full support for the students’ initiatives within the Dudhni village limits.

The Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School Ketan Patel provided further insight into the long term benefits of such programs. He stated that the holistic development of a student is incomplete without an understanding of the socio economic realities of the country. By living and working within the community the students gain an experiential education that textbooks cannot provide. He remarked that those who learn to serve the society while they are still students eventually become the most responsible and ethical citizens of the future. The logistical planning and day to day execution of the camp are being managed by the NSS Program Officer Manishaben Chalkar who shared a detailed itinerary of the upcoming events including workshops on national values and evening cultural programs involving the local villagers.

The inauguration event was attended by several influential members of the local education and social committees. Among the prominent guests were SMDC member Yamunaben Kurkutiya and the hostel warden Lataben Bhoya along with the entire faculty of the school. The presence of these community leaders provided a boost to the morale of the fifty volunteers who were formally inducted into their duties. The school administration has ensured that all safety and health protocols are in place for the students while they work on the field. The atmosphere at the campus was filled with a sense of purpose and positivity as the volunteers began their first session of community mapping and interaction.

As the six day camp progresses the village of Dudhni is expected to witness visible changes in its public spaces through the students’ dedicated labor. Beyond physical labor the students will also conduct door to door surveys to understand the needs of the villagers and spread awareness about government welfare schemes. This direct interaction helps in breaking social barriers and fosters a spirit of unity. The school administration and the Gram Panchayat are hopeful that this NSS camp will act as a catalyst for social change in Dudhni. By the end of the camp the volunteers are expected to emerge with stronger leadership qualities, improved communication skills and a lifelong commitment to the philosophy of social service.
