Krish regularly traveled on this route and was reportedly driving cautiously during the early morning hours.
As Krish reached the Khariwad area on the Daman–Vapi road, near a location known locally for horse stables, a Scorpio SUV suddenly appeared from the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road. The SUV was coming at very high speed, leaving no time for Krish to react or avoid the collision.
The Scorpio involved in the accident was bearing registration number DD03AP0023 and was being driven by Keyur Ramesh Patel, aged 32, a resident of Vatar, Daman. Initial information suggests that the Scorpio driver was driving on the wrong side and at an excessive speed. It is also alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
