Wrong-Side Overspeed Crash in Daman Kills Advocate’s Only Son from Vapi (Shocking Case)
A shocking and heartbreaking road accident on the Daman–Vapi highway has left the entire region in deep shock and grief. In the early hours of Saturday morning, a wrong-side, overspeeding Scorpio SUV collided head-on with a Maruti car near Khariwad in Daman, resulting in the tragic death of the only son of a well-known advocate couple from Vapi. The incident has triggered widespread outrage, fear, and renewed debate over drunk driving, wrong-side driving, and reckless speeding on the busy Daman–Vapi road.
According to details available, the accident occurred around 3:00 am when Krish Dharmesh Rajput, son of Vapi-based woman advocate Sonal Dharmesh Rajput, was driving his Maruti car bearing registration number GJ15CK5384 from Vapi towards Daman. Krish regularly traveled on this route and was reportedly driving cautiously during the early morning hours.
As Krish reached the Khariwad area on the Daman–Vapi road, near a location known locally for horse stables, a Scorpio SUV suddenly appeared from the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road. The SUV was coming at very high speed, leaving no time for Krish to react or avoid the collision.
The Scorpio involved in the accident was bearing registration number DD03AP0023 and was being driven by Keyur Ramesh Patel, aged 32, a resident of Vatar, Daman. Initial information suggests that the Scorpio driver was driving on the wrong side and at an excessive speed. It is also alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The impact of the collision was extremely severe. The front portion of the Maruti car was completely crushed, indicating the force with which the Scorpio hit it. Krish Dharmesh Rajput suffered critical injuries and died on the spot, before any medical help could arrive. The horrific scene left passersby stunned, and panic spread quickly along the highway.
Local residents and motorists rushed to the spot and immediately informed the police. Due to the accident occurring on a busy highway, traffic movement was temporarily disrupted, and a sense of fear and chaos prevailed among road users.
Daman police reached the accident site shortly after receiving the information and initiated an investigation. A case has been registered under IPC sections 281 and 105, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation is currently being handled by PSI Hiral Patel, who is collecting evidence related to speed, wrong-side driving, and alleged intoxication.
The Scorpio driver, Keyur Patel, also sustained injuries in the crash and was shifted to Haria Hospital in Vapi under police guard. He is currently undergoing treatment. Police have begun procedures to conduct medical tests to confirm whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities are also examining why the Scorpio was on the wrong side of the road and whether safety norms were deliberately violated.
The tragic death of Krish Rajput has cast a dark shadow over the Rajput family and the legal community in Vapi and Daman. Krish was the only son of his parents, and his sudden loss has left the family devastated. Advocates, friends, and local residents have expressed deep condolences and anger over the incident.
The situation escalated further when Krish’s father, advocate Dharmesh Rajput, openly expressed his anguish and anger at the government hospital in Daman. In an emotional statement, he said that this was not a mere accident but a clear case of murder caused by reckless and criminal driving. He alleged that the Scorpio did not even have a visible number plate and was driven at high speed on the wrong side in a drunken condition.
Dharmesh Rajput further claimed that the accused driver, Keyur Patel, is a known bootlegger and was previously caught in a liquor smuggling case in 2019. Despite this past record, the family alleges that strict legal sections have not been applied against him, leading to massive anger and resentment among the public.
This tragic incident has once again raised serious questions about road safety on the Daman–Vapi highway, especially issues such as wrong-side driving, drunk driving, and overspeeding during late-night and early-morning hours. Citizens are demanding strict action, harsher punishment, and zero tolerance for such dangerous behavior.
As the investigation continues, people across Vapi and Daman are closely watching the case, hoping that justice will be delivered to the grieving family. The death of a young life in such a preventable accident has become a grim reminder of the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and accountability on the roads.
