4 Dead, 8 Injured in Brutal Nashik–Peth Road Accident A heart-wrenching road accident on the Nashik–Peth highway shook the region on Wednesday afternoon, leaving four people dead and eight others seriously injured. The fatal collision occurred due to reckless overtaking between two luxury vehicles and claimed the lives of innocent passengers on the spot. Among the deceased was a young man from Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, sending shockwaves across the Union Territory and surrounding areas.
According to preliminary information, the horrific accident took place around 3 pm near the Chachadgaon toll booth on the Nashik–Peth road. A Scorpio SUV and an Ertiga car, both travelling at high speed, collided head-on with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely mangled, turning the highway into a scene of chaos, screams, and panic. Passersby and other motorists were left stunned by the violent crash.
Initial investigations revealed that the Scorpio, bearing registration number GJ-15-CR-7904, was travelling from Nashik towards Peth. The driver allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed without assessing oncoming traffic. During this dangerous manoeuvre, the Scorpio collided head-on with an Ertiga car bearing registration number DD-01-AA-9013, which was coming from the opposite direction. This single moment of negligence proved fatal for multiple families.
Among those who lost their lives in the accident was 75-year-old Chogalal Hiralal Gurjar, a resident of Devgarh in Rajasthan, who was travelling in the Scorpio. Another confirmed fatality was 28-year-old Shah Rukh Khan Farqat, the driver of the Ertiga car and a resident of Silvassa. In addition to them, an unidentified woman and another passenger also died on the spot due to the severity of their injuries. The sudden and tragic loss of four lives has left families shattered.

The remaining injured were provided emergency medical assistance at nearby healthcare facilities.
As soon as information about the accident was received, a team from Dindori Police Station rushed to the scene. Under the supervision of Police Inspector Raghunath Shegar, police officers carried out rescue operations, cleared the damaged vehicles from the highway, and restored traffic movement. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations, while a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident was initiated.
A disturbing detail that has emerged is that one of the families involved in the accident is reportedly from the Dungra area of Vapi. However, till late night, authorities were unable to establish full contact with the family members, and official confirmation regarding their identities was awaited. Nashik police are expected to release further verified information on Thursday, including details of all victims and injured passengers.
The tragic accident once again highlights how dangerous reckless overtaking on highways can be. A single misjudged decision by the Scorpio driver is believed to have extinguished four lives in a matter of seconds. The death of a 28-year-old youth from Silvassa has particularly triggered a wave of grief across Dadra and Nagar Haveli, with residents expressing shock and sorrow over the loss.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the crash as terrifying, stating that the sound of the collision was deafening. Both vehicles were so badly damaged that it took considerable effort for rescue teams to extract victims from the wreckage. The visual aftermath of the crash underscored the deadly consequences of speeding and ignoring traffic discipline on highways.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and are proceeding with legal formalities as per the law. Efforts are also underway to inform the families of all injured persons currently undergoing treatment at Nashik Civil Hospital. Authorities have appealed to drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and exercise patience while overtaking, especially on highways where high-speed collisions often turn fatal.
This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. The Nashik–Peth highway accident has once again raised serious concerns about reckless driving, lack of caution, and the devastating impact such negligence can have on countless lives. As investigations continue, families mourn their losses while hoping that stricter enforcement and awareness can prevent such tragedies in the future.
